Be prepared for the Scottish summer walking season. Spend a day in the Border hills learning and using navigation techniques that will help keep you safe in the mountains. We will walk in a small group (max 6). During the day we will cover the following:
- feature identification
- orientating the map
- interpreting contours
- grid references
- taking and following a bearing
- route choice
- timing
- measuring distances
- relocation
To help you get the most out of the day you will be given a compass and map case to use and keep at the end of the day. You will also be provided with a printed map of the area and a review sheet covering some of the important skills of the day.
The cost of the course is £45 and is payable on the day.
