West Highlnd Way: 21st - 27th May

It is just over a week since I finished the West Highland Way with this Walkabout Scotland group.  Taking seven days to cover the 96 miles we were treated to the usual showers and midges, but thankfully only in small doses.  In the main we had fantastic weather and incredible views, especially as we approached Glencoe over Rannoch Moor.  Ingrid, Gail and Randi, from the States and Bernadette from Paris, were the first group I had taken on the WHW (in fact it was the first time I had walked the complete trail!)  They were excellent company, great fun and battled through sore knees, backs and feet with great determination.  The West Highland Way is popular and one of the best aspects is the cameraderie built up between fellow hikers; tales swapped, encouragement given and a chance to vent about those blisters.  We fell in sync with the couple in our end photo and the gentleman even had a foot race with Gail down the high street to the finish!  A superb week of walking, ending on a high.
